Click the green button to watch the gears spin based off a single revolution of the small central drive gear. Mouse over the gears to see their rotation values relative to their starting point. Use the slider to adjust the speed at which the gears turn. Made for Holualoa Elementary School Robotics 2018
The small drive gear has 8 teeth, the medium 12 and the large 16. 8/12 = 4/6 = 2/3 The medium gear will spin two thirds of a revolution. 8/16 = 4/8 = 2/4 = 1/2 The big gear will spin one half of a revolution. Every 3 revolutions of the small drive gear will spin the medium gear 2 complete revolutions, so a ratio of 3:2 Every 2 revolutions of the small drive gear will spin the large gear 1 complete revolution, so a ratio of 2:1
