Chapter 1 “Stop that Jaggedpaw!” Blackkit hissed. Jaggedpaw stopped playing with her tail and looked up at her. “It’s not my fault your tail is that long. I mean, don’t even get me started on your ears and your voice…” Jaggedpaw mewed obviously about to go on a rant. Blackkit flattened her ears in an attempt to hide them. “Hey!” Blackkit mewed indignantly. “You promised not to talk about that!” As Blackkit finished her sentence she curled her tail up. “Oops.” Jaggedpaw mewed clearly a little sincere. “Yeah, whatever.” Blackkit mumbled. “It's fine.” Jaggedpaw looked at Blackkit, she had her tail curled up, her ears flattened and she crouched down to hide the length of her legs. “Are you sure?” Jaggedpaw asked. Blackkit perked her ears. “Oh! I'm I think that was Sharptooth calling you!” she called in an attempt to get rid of him. “It was?!? He never actually gives me a proper training session!” Jaggedpaw’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Maybe today he will!” Blackkit mewed. “Maybe!” Jaggedpaw called out while stumbling to get up. Blackkit left the middle of camp for the nursery. The nursery’s sweet scent filled Blackkit’s nostrils when she walked in. Her friend Rosekit perked up as she walked in. “hi… Blackkit.” Rosekit mewed wearily. “Did you talk to Sparkfur today?” Blackkit asked her tired friend. Rosekit sat up and stretched. “Why?” Rosekit’s question shocked Blackkit. “I thought you were going to ask to be his apprentice!” When Blackkit said this Rosekit was suddenly filled with energy. When Rosekit stood up, Blackkit became jealous. It's not fair! Blackkit thought. She looks exactly like every other cat in Thunderclan! Why can’t I! She knows who her father is! Why can’t I?! Blackkit walked over to her mother, Spottedtail. Blackkit sat down next to the tawny-pelted she-cat. “Spottedtail, who is my father.” Blackkit asked daringly. “Now Blackkit,” Spottedtail began. “You know what happened to him. He was killed by a fall in the mountains.” Blackkit felt anger burning through her pelt. “You always say that!” “Now honey-” “I’ve asked the elders; they never knew him!” “Now even though they’ve been around longer doesn’t mean-” “Listen, just tell me! I need to know! Do you want to know what’s it’s like to be a kit without a father!” “Now Blackkit-” Spottedtail was trying to keep patient. “No! You don’t! You look like an actual Thunderclan cat! Do I? No! You sound like a real Thunderclan cat! Do I? No!” Blackkit hissed, all her anger pouring out. “Honey, you need to learn to control that temper.” Spottedtail meowed calmly. “Yes I know I do. I have the temper of-of-of-of a Windclan cat!” Blackkit hissed hating herself while she said it. “Now Blackkit! Why would you ever say that you are so much better than a Windclan cat!” Spottedtail mewed standing up. “Hmph!” Blackkit huffed. “I’m going to talk to Robinfur.” Spottedtail announced. “I’ll just find something to do by myself then.” Blackkit mewed but, Spottedtail had already left the nursery. Blackkit decided to ask the elders about her father again. Blackpaw walked into the elders den hoping that she could finally find out the truth about her father. The elders den was nice and shady with nice moss bedding in the corners of the denThe elders were asleep except Mosspelt. Mosspelt was the youngest elder having only gone to join them a moon ago. “Hello Blackkit.” she whispered. Blackkit looked around the den, all of the other elders were sleeping peacefully. “Why are you here?” Mosspelt asked. “I wanted to ask you about my father. Did you ever know him?” Blackkit asked. “Well, I never knew him maybe someone else did.” Mosspelt looked towards Finchstar. “Finchstar?” Blackkit was shocked. “Did I say that?” Mosspelt asked looking at Finchstar again. “Wait, does she know or not?” “She knows” Mosspelt said. Blackkit was shocked. Her confusion overwhelmed her. “Thank you.” Blackkit managed to meow. “No problem.” Mosspelt meowed. “Do you need help out or…” Blackkit didn’t hear the rest. Blackkit’s vision went blurry for a moment then there was just darkness.
