Simulation of the Moon's orbit of Earth. Use the slider in the top right to adjust the speed of the simulation. The simulation should demonstrate that the same hemisphere (highlighted in red) of the Moon is always facing Earth. If you imagine the Sun to left, you can see the shadows of both the Earth and the Moon fall to the right The phases of the moon can be understood by how much of the visible (red) hemisphere of the Moon is not in shadow.
