There is nothing that particularly sparks her interest—it all depends on the cat. Maybe they are charming, maybe they are someone she can have fun with or maybe they are just an interesting cat. Except, this cat actually is rather insecure about herself and feels weak and powerless. When meeting new cats, she often cowers away and stutters. She will grow use to a cat relatively quickly, while the more she likes their attitude, the quicker she comes out of her shell. She is rather selfless and takes others into consideration before herself. She was always there to speak first and protect her. After so little interaction with others, she becomes rather stunned and shy when it comes to speaking to other cats. With being in the tribes and becoming deputy, Nia has grown out of this trait when in a group and cats are looking at her, but with one on one interactions with another cat, Nia will often stutter, trip, shy away or wince. Some may take it into offence but it upsets her to know if they do. She is scared that they might hurt or judge her. Once she gets to know the cats, she often loses this trait—some cats taking longer than others to get comfortable with. She is often drawn out of her shell by charming, outgoing or nice cats. Due to this, she often feels very limited, trying to say nice things and answer things in an intellectual way while also trying to not offend the other cat. If cats can manage to stand it, she will leave less space between each answers over time, and things will be a lot less tense and inconveniently annoying. Nia hates making things awkward, but she is also caught in the crossfire of possibly offending them otherwise. Through that awkwardness and insecurity, this she-cat will do her best to say kind things and put a smile on your face. She was taught that dedicating yourself to others should be your first priority, so she becomes generally upset when others seem in distress. Why let someone continue on incorrectly when the proper way is much more productive? Due to this, she often will let herself show if she is irritated, uncomfortable, stressed or unhappy. Her mood seems to fluctuate a lot more by the more you know her. It becomes a slow release of changes in her mood until the point where she knows the other cat can handle her temperament. Although, it actually is quite hard to offend her—and of course everyone still can, but once she is your friend, then she will not hold it up inside. She tends to get very protective of her ideas and morals, and will not be afraid to voice her opinion when it comes down to it—and that means fight for it to be heard as well. Nia has an odd habit of almost never smiling—or at least having a full smile on her face. Most of the time, she only smiles with half of her mouth. When really happy or laughing, she will fully smile. Most of her emotions can be seen through her body language. She is more likely to be more an ‘open book’ with her body language, and keep audible emotions to herself. For example, if she were scared, she might stutter a bit more than usual, but she would be holding herself low and trying to get some space between her and the cause of her fear. The whole reason Nia even came to the tribes was to try and have a chance to make other cats happy and help them in any way she can. She has developed a habit of never thinking about herself and dealing with anything as long as it means other cats are happy. What is a combination of feeling it hard to understand her own emotions and understanding the circle of life, she will often not grieve about the death of cats. Most of the time, they don’t affect her in any visible way. If it were someone she were close to—say Zeke—she would be absolutely heart broken and not be able to cope for a long time. Nia's intimidation most likely originates from growing up alone-other than with her mother. She grew up not socializing, except with her mother. Due to this, it most likely caused her initial fear of other cats. Nia absolutely adores young cats and kits. Even with that, Nia would not want kits right now. She is still trying to settle into the life of the tribes and role as a deputy to have another thing to focus on. There is a good chance that once she feels ready, she will want kits. Human Au Nia: Physical therapist, 23 years old, 5'4", facial structure similar to Nastya Kusakina, blond hair, blue eyes, straight hair often set into extravagant hairdos, can sing and lives in a rural area; she would also own a few pet birds. Even if Nia has been Deputy for about a season, she is still rather stressed about it. She feels like she was not in the tribes long enough, that there were more experienced cats for deputy, not sure what she has to do, and not sure what her friends will think of her. She tries her best, and she does not want to let down Basil, but she still is rather stressed and often tries to wear of built up anxiety. After the hawk attack, she has been starting to accept it a lot more, but the stress it still there. It looks like it will disappear sometime soon… Nia normally does not give out her true name first. She may often give out Nia or Bird with no hesitation, but in normal circumstances she will not be the one to say her real name first. She normally feels obligated to share hers if the other cats said theirs, no matter how long it has been since she met them. After confronting the hawk and seeing what they can so, she has gotten a bit jumpy when she hears weird sounds or is surprised.
