You cannot use chat if the chatterbox is icy and locked. This happens if the game hasn't started yet. Click the chatterbox to open it so you can chat, or click it again to keep it closed and ignore chat. Press space to swim underwater or to jump on land. Z to swing sword. Defend yourself from Polbs. Try to find out how to do jobs on your own, but feel free to ask for help if you are unable to.
