[Instructions] Press start. Use the arrow keys to direct the semicolon around. Avoid periods, P's, D's and A's. Use H's to gain more hearts. You lose the game upon 0 hearts and win upon gaining 50. Note that it's harder than it looks. [Notes] The semicolon in modern symbolism represents, as said in the title, "the option to stop but the decision to keep going." For many people struggling with mental health, it is a notion of hope and future wellness. In this simple game made for Mental Health Awareness Week, you play as a semicolon, trying to continue your sentence: life. - A's represent anxiety. The idea was to have several 'waves' crash down at the same time. - D's represent chronic depression. With the usually sluggish symptoms came the 'immobile' phase. - P's represent PTSD (and other stress disorders). The idea was to have a moment of ambiguity where clarity is hard to find. - Periods represent attempts to end the sentence. The idea stemmed from an online friend of mine who recently got a tattoo of a semicolon after their stay in a psychiatric ward. Their tattoo is exactly what sprite you control. While the semicolon already has a standing metaphor, he decided to add the arrow as a source of direction and will to live. With the growing mental health problems of the younger generations and the increasing epidemic of thought-loneliness, I wish you all good luck, both in-game and in real life.
