When you start the game, you will start in "Easy Mode", which has less enemies, and when you die, you just start the level over. Once you beat Easy Mode, if you start again, you will have to play in "Hard Mode," (although, reload the page and you will be in Easy Mode again. What makes Hard Mode different is the variable that keeps track of the difficulty is shown, showing that you are in Hard Mode. Also, there is a second regular recto in the game, as well as the Icy Recto in World 3. To add even more to the difficulty, when you die, you have to start the whole world you are in over, like in the first release of Super Scratch Cat and Super Scratch Cat 2, at least half a year before Rectos and other enemies existed. But now for controls: Use left and right arrow keys to move, and Up Arrow to jump. Different colors give you different powers for as long as you touch them: Yellow: Touch this portal to teleport to the next level. Dark Brown: Touch this and you die. Orange: Slowly moves you in the direction you are facing, and very slowly lowers you too. Also makes you immune to damage. Pink: Touch this and you warp to the top middle of the screen. Hold SPACE to warp to the top left. Purple: Same as Pink except when you hold SPACE, you go to the top right. Blue: Is a portal that warps you to the next world. Dark Tan: Quicksand. Avoid at all costs! Light Tan: Sand caught in high desert winds. Touch this to ZOOM forward. Dark Turquoise: Ice. Touch this to slide forward automatically. Really light turquoise: Freezing Water. Avoid! (Unless you want to become a block of ice! :D) Enemies: 1. Recto: Moves side to side towards you. Can be ridden (Useful on Level 4) 2. Flying Recto: Same as ordinary Recto, except it stays at a fixed height. 3. Angry Sun (From Super Mario Bros 3): Floats around in the Desert World. 4. Lil' Brrrs (From Super Mario Galaxy): When close enough, it will move towards you, and if you touch it, you will turn into a block of ice. 5. Icy Recto: Flying Recto that freezes you if you touch it, and drops balls that also freeze you. 6. Brown Ball: The only enemy (besides the boss) that was in the first release of Super Scratch Cat, Super Scratch Cat 2, and Super Scratch Cat 3. It bounces around the screen, like a Pong ball. It is also the boss's primary weapon. 7. The Ghoul: The boss of the game. You have to get to the yellow button to produce a mysterious light that vanquishes the ghoul, while avoiding the balls. Do it before the balls accumulate so much that you can barely move and the ghoul becomes impossible to beat. If this does happen, you have failed and the world will remain subject to the ghoul's tyranny.
This game was actually first shared in 2014, not 2016. THIS GAME NOW WORKS IN SCRATCH 3.0! However there might still be some issues. 3.0 is much more sensitive to detecting different colors, so some residual colors resulting from 2014 me's terrible digital art skills might now be detected and cause issues. Please tell me of anything like this. In my opinion the 2.0 version is still the definitive version. Thanks to Griffpatch for the platforming tutorial, and thanks to Will_Wam for the boss music and inspiration for the style of levels. Thanks to Koji Kondo and Mahito Yokota and the rest of the Super Mario Galaxy Team at Nintendo and the Mario Galaxy Orchestra for the main theme, from The Gusty Garden Galaxy.
