I was surprisingly able to finish Inktober without missing a single day. For those of you who don't know what Inktober is, it's a drawing challenge that involves drawing with ink everyday of October. I was originally going to use the official prompts list, but I gave up on that and did a bunch of sketching instead. There's also some stuff here that I didn't count as Inktober drawings, but still did during October. ------------ 1. The first prompt was 'poisonous'. I originally wanted to draw a mythical creature everyday, so I drew a lavellan, a shrew-like creature from Scotland said to have enough poison to kill cattle from a large distance away. 2. Day two's prompt was 'tranquil', so I drew an indrik. An indrik is a peaceful creature from Russian folklore said to be the king of all animals. It's often referred to as a Russian unicorn. 3. Day three's prompt was 'roasted', so I wanted to do a fire-breathing creature. I ended up doing a chimera. 4-5. The prompt for day four was 'spell'. I was going to do a fairy because fairies do spells, but then I got overambitious and drew some ferns and foxgloves. I don't consider this a missed day, since an unfinished drawing is still a drawing, but I think this did give me a better idea of my time limit. 6. Day five's prompt was 'chicken', which meant I'd draw either a cockatrice or a hippalectryon. I chose cockatrice. Day six's prompt was 'drooling', so I drew a drooling dog, abandoning the mythical creature plan. I'm not putting it here, though, mainly because I don't like it. 7. I gave up the prompts and sketched hands. 8. Two of these shoes were done on day eight and the rest were done on day nine. 9. I realized I wasn't good at drawing dogs, so I drew dogs. 10. Whippets 11. Basset hounds 12. Airedale terriers 13. Random dog sketches 14. Dog skulls. The second one down from the top right is a pug skull, and I think it looks more like the doctor guy from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" than an actual dog. 15. I sketched some outfits I liked using references, but only inked one of them. 16. Quick and messy chickens 17. Quick cats 18-19. I filled two pages of skulls in one day because I was in the skull drawing mood. 20. Siamese cat sketches 21. Moths 22-23. Frogs 24. A frog skeleton and salamanders 25. Tanukis, also known as raccoon dogs, are pretty cool. They're said to be shapeshifters in Japanese folklore. 26. I was low on time and did a very fast cat doodle. Sorry about the poor lighting. 27. Deer 28. Horses 29. Magpies 30. Squirrels. These next few pictures are of a higher quality than the rest because they were taken with my phone instead of my computer. 31. Bats 32. I wanted to end things with a neat Halloween drawing, so here's some mice around a pumpkin. 33. I also did some drawings that I didn't count towards Inktober. These were some lion sketches done as a warm-up before the chimera. 34. Day seven's prompt was 'exhausted', so my mind immediately went to sleep because people sleep when they're exhausted. Sleep leads to dreams, so I was going to draw a baku, a tapir-like being from Japanese folklore that eats nightmares. I sketched some tapirs to warm up before ultimately doing something else. 35. Oh hey, it's something other than ink. I made this character named Anon a while ago, but never actually did anything with him because his story was a mess. I have a new idea with him now, though, so I tried redesigning him a bit. 36. Cat sketches. I probably could have counted this as an Inktober drawing, but I didn't. 37. More Anon ideas 38. I also tried redesigning my character Tullio, since his story was also a mess and had to do with Anon. These were just sketches done during my chemistry class that I ended up liking. 39. Another Tullio 40. A quick concept sketch of my character Maurice. He's the kind of dude who would probably hang out with a bunch of cats as a way of escaping social interaction. The perspective is off, but I still like the concept. I'm sorry I unshared this; I didn't like the original thumbnail. ----------- People are probably going to ask me what I drew with, so here's a list: - Micron pens were used for the line-work in drawings 1-6, 8, 15, and 32. - Anything with thick black lines was done with a Pigma Sensei bold tip pen. - Pretty much everything else was sketched with ink was done with a normal ballpoint pen. - As for markers, I generally used Ohuhu markers for background shapes and Prismacolor for colouring things in. Occasionally, I just used water-based markers and highlighters I had. - The non-ink sketches were done in Prismacolor colour pencils and a normal mechanical pencil. ---------- The music is "Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes.
