Shadows loomed over a stripe-tailed gray feline. "Don't leave," he whispered. Gazing up at the stars, he saw a new one. A twinkling, beautiful star. His mate's. "Why did you take her?" he wailed to StarClan. The stars gave him no answer. Pain spiraled inside of him, and he tore the grass with his claws in agony. "Why?" he screeched. Suddenly, a sweet scent swirled around him. "Don't worry," Brightspirit's voice whispered into his ear. "I'll always be with you." And with that, Ashnose was crushed into drowning darkness...
