November 21, 2018 ~ SWC Daily Activity: Book Spine Poetry The Poem reads: When you reach me, I'll give you the sun. (so) Stand tall (and) Wonder (about) the thing with feathers I love all these books (Stand Tall is questionable...I read it for school) and I've read all of them except The Thing with Feathers which is based off of Emily Dickinson's poem: Hope is the thing with feathers. ~ When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead: I read this one a while back, but I remember loving the story. It's for all ages and it's a sweet story. It won a Newbery Award which is a literary award for "the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children." ~ I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson: I recently read this one and it's definitely for older readers (at least 13+) due to profanity and some older content ~ Stand Tall by Joan Bauer: Um, so I read this for school and no one really liked it. I thought it was medicore. Nothing great but not bad either. (maybe a 5/10) ~ Wonder by R.J. Palacio: I read this one 4 years ago for school and it was so sad that someone actually cried in class. It's an amazing story (that is now a major motion picture) and I definitely recommend it. It's a family friendly story so any age is okay reading it. ~ The Thing with Feathers by McCall Hoyle: I haven't read this one yet, but I just bought it from Barnes and Noble for my birthday. It sounds like a good book to me so I got it! I guess since it's also a Young Adult fiction that it's for 13+ as well.
