This is a collaboration between Chirple and D_i_a_v_l_o, we're going to be talking about our opinions on Scratch 3.0. So, I think the layout and new editor looks nice, but the large blocks are going to make it very hard to make a project. It seems like the sort of editor where you can only make small test projects rather than elaborate ones. I feel like it's primarily focused on younger kids with the new interface which could drastically lower the age demographic. I think the music and pen features being put in the extensions category is a good example of how Scratch 3.0 seems too focused on younger kids, though I do like the new translation and text to speech features. A user called Altzer made a good point, they said "I'm not too keen of the idea of making the entire program big and clunky just to support a small, almost nonexistent userbase of touchscreen users." And I agree, it seems unecessary to make an update as big as this for a tiny minority of users. I've read up a lot about people's opinions on the new blocks and the extra padding seems quite unpopular, it just feels too big to work with. Another problem is that some features, like the trimming capability on the sound editor will only be added post release so it seems like the editor is being rushed out without making sure that it's perfect and ready to go. Since Flash is stopping in 2020, there's at least another year to improve it. I'm worried that my 2.0 projects will be affected when being run in 3.0, and some already have. I know that this is being worked on but I'm doubtful that they'll work the way they do now The release of Scratch 3 could potentially change the quality of projects on the site and I can see older users making projects with the 2.0 editor as it's easier to use and it's what we're used to. o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•` Credits: Voiced by Animated by Scratch 3.0 concept by and CosmiCat (3.0 mascot) design by Slides on new oversized blocks by Thanks to the commentors for writing the comments o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•` Too long, didn't watch; I find Scratch 3 too focused on younger kids and it's very hard to make decent projects with the new interface. o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`o~.*•`
