Be sure to check back here a lot, I'll update this as it goes along! Roadmap (Est. Release: September 2026) [DONE] Design, develop, and render a functional version of ninengine [DONE] Find a way to implement ninengine throughout project [IN PROGRESS] Rescript entire project and implement ninengine - Still migrating older apps to the new platform [DONE] Develop ninegine Injection (receive and send) [REMOVED] Develop and add account information storage - I was unable to find a good way to do this with text, so no custom names for now [DONE] Add a new Unified Design Setup - Work still needs to be done on this but it is in the project in final form [IN PROGRESS] Add back features from the pre-N rescript - Persistent start button, pointer trails, lock screen, Windows Store, Run, Movies, Disk Cleanup, iTunes, Clock (Store and iTunes will lead to an error, as in 9AE) - Dedicated screensaver button on the power corner (replaces sleep) [IN PROGRESS] Personalization expansion, pointer trails, sound theme selection, wallpaper and lock screen selection, special birthday message, screensaver selection, custom app UI positions, plus traditional Win9 options. - This makes use of a core ninengine feature to encode multiple strings into one binary string, preventing cloud data bloat. [IN PROGRESS] New central sound queue, handled by the kernel, allowing for overlapping sounds and system awareness of the currently playing sound. Also helps with size bloat due to duplicate sounds. - This enables true to life Soundscape behavior, very similar to the Win7 theme picker [DONE] UEFI, WinPBE, Boot menu updates [IN PROGRESS] Windows Media Player (formerly media), new Disk Management, new Windows Explorer - Overhauled media, explorer, new disk management, new UEFI flow, winPBE updates. [DONE] Randomness/fun stuff, random crashing chance, etc, less polish in some places to pay homage to previous windows versions. [IN PROGRESS] Windows Experience Index benchmark during setup affects animations. [DONE] Revamp UI to make better use of space [DONE] Fix cluttered, inconsistent UI and design language [REMOVED] Archive fully revised, optimized version for Scratch 2.0 [DONE] Migrate project to Scratch 3.0 [DONE] Optimize ninengine for Scratch 3.0 [DONE] Optimize UI and design language for Scratch 3.0's formatting [DONE] Ensure all elements are vectorized properly [DONE] Revamp ugly assets [DONE] Prepare project release trailer [IN PROGRESS] Locate and fix as many issues as possible [IN PROGRESS] Deprecate Windows 9 UE [IN PROGRESS] Release project publicly [IN PROGRESS] Promote project across all available outlets [DONE] Update all older projects to reflect new version [IN PROGRESS] Dual boot lightweight OS? Unreleased Windows N TE from 2017 maybe? Maybe an earlier Windows 9 build? (Alpha 9?) - More hidden stuff in the boot selection, and in the file system overall [IN PROGRESS] Easter eggs and other hidden items - Secrets directory, DOS games, hidden sequences, special unlock flows for features, video game references, and a new and modern take on many classic 9 easter eggs. Enough to reward casual users and deep divers. [IN PROGRESS] Add functional IE sites - downloading, in site media [DONE] Design a functional version of ninengine Isolated Environment (Microsoft Prism) [DONE] Add outside apps using NIE (ninengine Isolated Environment) [IN PROGRESS] Publish project detailing documentation of how to use ninegine That would be it, then it'll all be out and ready to go!
Windows 9 RE (re- [rē]) It's coming. I'm not spoiling anymore than is in this trailer, but I promise, you're going to love it! It's built on my really cool new engine, called ninegine. It's modular, quick, easy to implement too! I also may design a thing that allows other projects to be "injected" into the project, isolating it, with little modification to the scripts of it. Oh, and also, there's more easter eggs, of course. What would Windows 9 be without those?! Alright, no more spoilers, I swear! Happy scratching! -cs266377
