Miranda's, and her mother Pera's, characters were heavily inspired by Shakespeare's Miranda and Prospero, in his play "The Tempest." The line "You are the stuff that dreams are made on" is also from his play. It's originally "We are the stuff that dreams are made on." The entire play is a gorgeous piece of writing, and I suggest you give it a try. The language is dense, and I recommend using the books by the incredible company "No Fear Shakespeare."
