This is Quince. He's a male Galaxy cat. His parents were both tabbies, so they were shocked when he was born looking like he does. He was born on a full moon at midnight, and his parents were convinced that he had some connection to the night sky, so they took him outside to see the moon. When they did, the stars in his fur shone so bright they almost outshone the stars in the sky. His parents weren't willing to care for a kitten that was so different, so they abandoned him deep in a forest. An owl found him and took him under her wing, and she became his new mother. She would bring him mice to eat every night, and he grew to love the night sky even more. He would sit outside every night and watch the moon. One night, he was sitting watching the moon set too long, and the sun began to rise. He had never seen sunlight before in his entire life, so he was terrified. He tried to run away, but tripped on a rock and got his paw stuck. He was caught as the sun rose higher and higher. That day was particularly hot and dry, and at noon (Quince was still stuck, poor thing), a fire started. Half of the forest burned down, and as Quince watched the flames devour all he loved, including the tree that his owl-mother was sleeping in, unaware of the fire as it killed her, he vowed to never see the daylight again. He finally got his paw free and went deeper into the cool, mossy part of the forest that hadn't burned and developed a fierce loathing for the daytime and a burning love for the night. It's said that if you're hiking in that forest and you catch a glimpse of Quince at night, the stars in his fur still shine like the ones in the sky.
