“Alright dearies, it’s nice to see that you’re having a good time helping out, but I’m just about ready to head home now,” Kangaskhan told Team Galaxy. Keahi lifted up zir head to look up at the normal-type, “oh, okay then!” zie chirped, stepping away from the pile of seeds zie had been sliding over to Nelvana for her to organize. “Ack! Just a min… oh, nevermind,” Nelvana sighed, leaving the seeds behind to join her partner. “Don’t worry about it! You’ve helped plenty, we’ll be fine finishing this up!” Kecleon assured them, scooping up the seeds. “Thanks!” “No problem,” Alex replied, brushing off his knees where he had been kneeling on the ground before following the others. Tsuki opened her mouth to leave some sort of response as well, but closed it, and simply walked over to where the rest of the team had gathered around Kangaskhan. “Have a nice night, kecleons!” Kangaskhan hummed, waving at the brothers. “See you tomorrow Kangaskhan, and Team Galaxy!” they replied, both waving as well before heading back to cleaning up. Kangaskhan smiled warmly at Team Galaxy, the basket that she had been fiddling with before now being loosely carried under her right arm, and some rolled-up papers and a flower were stored in her pouch “follow me, as I said, I only live a few minutes away from here,” she said, turning to leave Pokemon Square. “So, where do you live?” Keahi asked, bounding after Kangaskhan. “Just in a cottage down by the shore,” Kangaskhan answered briefly, shifting her grip on the basket. “It’s quite the nice spot, been in my family for generations. I think you’ll all like it.” “By the shore?” Tsuki repeated. Kangaskhan nodded, “yes. Surely, you’ve seen that we’re actually fairly close to the ocean; the Pelipper Post Office is on the cliff overlooking it, after all. We just follow this path far enough, and we’ll go downhill to the beach,” she explained. Alex glanced to the side, out to the horizon at the sunset which had just begun. The sun had just barely begun to touch the horizon line, stretching out its beams across the terrain, coating the land and the clouds in an orange glow. Nelvana turned to look as well, staring out in awe at this natural delight, before turning her focus back to the others in an attempt to pay attention to the conversation being held. “So, Mrs. Kangaskhan, how, uh, do you actually make a profit from your work? We’ve never paid you at least…” Tsuki questioned. “Er, it’s Miss Kangaskhan, but you can just call me Kangaskhan, don’t worry about it, hon,” Kangaskhan replied, “and to answer your question, places like the Pelipper Post Office, the Persian Bank, and my storage store, are all funded through by the continent,” she added. Tsuki blinked, “oh, I see…” “Hey Kangaskhan? If you don’t mind me asking, what’s in that basket?” Keahi asked, craning zir neck to try and look closer. “Oh this? Just some vegetables I picked today. I’m thinking of making some stew with them for tonight,” Kangaskhan answered, lifting the rose blanket covering the contents to show an assortment of healthy food products. “Those look good!” Keahi chirped, eyeing the vegetables. “Thank you,” Kangaskhan hummed, “ah, we’re almost there now. See that cottage right down there? That’s where I live.” The cottage Kangaskhan pointed down at was a small building with a slanted tile roof sitting at the edge of the grass before the ground turned to sand. Like Team Galaxy’s house, the walls were built up from stone, but unlike the rescue team base, this home didn’t have a domed shape, instead having a simple rectangular base. A small garden grew beside the property, the leaves of several plants beginning to pop up out of the soil. Unlike most of the homes that were seen in the area, this house had a porch extension looking over the water, the roof reaching over it to protect a single rocking chair from rain damage. The entire building carried an unusual pink tint to it, but this simply gave it a warm, welcoming air. Light faintly glowed from the various windows, already covered from the curtains indoors. A mailbox sat beside the home, painted over with messy flowers and other cheerful symbols to cure it of its blandness. “You have a pretty home!” Keahi exclaimed, “it’s such a sweet little place!” “Why, thank you!” Kangaskhan replied, “it’s been through a lot, but we’ve kept it up the best we can.” “Do you know how to build houses?” Nelvana asked curiously. Kangaskhan sighed, “not entirely… And I’ve been getting too old for it anyway,” she chuckled, “I know the basics. I can repair, but not rebuild. So, if my help with rebuilding your base is what you’re looking for, I’m afraid my skills aren’t up to par. I’m too busy for extra work anyway, sorry,” she continued. “Oh no! Sorry, I wasn’t trying to ask you to do even more for us… I know you’re busy, and you’re already helping us with this,” Nelvana blurted out, burying her face the best she could into her scarf.

I’ll race you to the house!” zie exclaimed suddenly, and proceeded to sprint down the hill. Nelvana lifted her head up in surprise, but the challenge registered in her quickly and she followed her partner in a sprint. Alex spun around to watch the pair speed away, and lifted his head up in a laugh, before heading after them at a more leisurely pace. Tsuki glanced from the grovyle, to the torchic and cubone, and then carefully padded along her team. Kangaskhan simply smiled warmly, watching the group atop the hill for a few moments with wistful eyes before finally following as well. Despite the head start, Nelvana began gaining on Keahi. Perhaps it was because she had longer legs, or that her larger claws could give her more balance on the slanted terrain, or something to do with their amount of experience, but she managed to pull ahead of zim just before they arrived to the house. She hopped on top of the porch with a thud to confirm her victory in this playful race. “Aw man! You won!” Keahi clucked, “I could’ve sworn torchics were supposed to be faster than cubones…” “I thought we had already established that I’m faster than your average cubone?” Nelvana snickered, leaning over the porch to look down at the torchic. “Yeah… that was fun though!” Keahi chirped. “She is the only one of us you really can race though,” Alex, who had arrived and stepped up onto the porch. “Tsuki and I are faster than both of you,” he added. “Don’t rub it in!” Keahi hissed playfully. “I don’t know much about other species, but if you evolve into a blaziken, you’ll be faster than me at least,” Tsuki chimed in, walking up beside Keahi. “If evolution ever works again, and if I actually decide to fully evolve…” Keahi murmured. “Whoo, finally caught up,” Kangaskhan joked, “did you have fun there?” she asked with a chuckle, actually using the stairs to get up to the porch, and walking up to the door. “Junior? I’m back, and we have guests!” she called into the house as she opened the door with her free arm and stepped inside, turning around to wave Team Galaxy indoors. Team Galaxy walked into the warm home that smelled of spices and wood, stepping onto a dark mat which was only there to keep the dirt off the clean floors. The house was built with open rooms, the living room being visible to their right, with a large couch with a chest and some shelves, and the kitchen to their left, which an island in the center, and counters with cupboards lining up the walls. There was a short hallway across from them, which presumably lead into more rooms. On the walls hung various painting and photos, the paintings being mostly of nature, and the photos being mostly of family. Nelvana slowly wandered further into the house, taking in all her surroundings in detail. Alex followed closely behind, and soon did Keahi and Tsuki, none of them entirely sure where to go next. Kangaskhan was already in the kitchen, pulling out a large pot to begin preparing the stew in, her basket set aside momentarily. “Hey mom!” another voice called out from the hallway, “what’s for supper?” “Vegetable stew, sweetie,” Kangaskhan answered, “now, I already said that we have guests, why don’t you come out and meet them?” she continued. There was some mumbling, and then footsteps as Junior walked into the living room to greet the quartet. He looked much like his mother, but obviously smaller, and lacking many of the darker markings that she had. He also had green eyes, much unlike her deep brown ones. His fur had already begun the change from a pale lavender to brown, muddying his hide in patches, and there appeared to be the makings of a pouch, which he was using to carry some slips of paper and a pen. He carried a book in one hand, holding in one of his fingers in between the pages as a bookmark.
