They came with an old wheelchair borrowed from the grandmother of the leader, and a warm blanket to cover her tail. Of course, the mermaid leaped at the chance to explore the pier - she was enchanted by the lights of the glimmering Ferris wheel that she had longed to ride since she was but a fry. The girls braided her exquisite hair and told her secrets, the boys flirted with her and bought her drinks; she laughed as she chased the stars at the top of the wheel. At the end of the night, she turned to the leader, told him she never wanted to return to the seafoam ever again after seeing what the land had to offer. He laughed gently and took her to his rich 'uncle', a famous restaurant critic, who could grant the group enough money to keep the girl safe on land for the rest of her life. The gracious man agreed as long as the girl would accompany the family for dinner at his favourite establishment that very night. "The sashimi platter was, as usual, exquisite." Legend says, those who visit that pier with blood on their hands will gaze down to see the beach scarred with hundreds of wheelchair tracks…
