Use your mouse to aim and shoot the soldiers before they cross. The bomb symbol sets a tripwire bomb that acts as another life but it costs 50 coins/money and you can only have one tripwire bomb. The bullet costs 20 coins/money but adds only 15 bullets/ammo. You can hold down for rapid fire but it wastes ammo. IMPORTANT!!!!!!! careful, the soldiers move a LOT and can juke your shots. Also I found a glitch with the end screen.
