Make sure your sound is on! This translator features ambient music and some nifty sound effects :) With the recent addition of text to speech and translation functions, this is currently the most advanced translator on Scratch possible! Featuring... -12 unique languages -Mobile support -Text to speech in respective languages -Prompts based on chosen language -Swapping two languages -Translating without retyping phrases Instructions: Select the respective language by clicking the drop down button. The switch button in the center allows you to swap between two languages. When trying to translate a phrase into different languages, you can change the second language and your translation will automatically update! If you want to write a new phrase, press space or use the translation button. Finally, you can listen to text-to-speech using the sound buttons.
Important: Several of you have remarked that prominent languages such as Chinese and Hindi are absent. This project includes only the twelve languages supported by Scratch’s speech functionality. If I included Chinese or other languages for translation, the audio would not work. Thus, I chose not to include them. Sorry about that, I’ll see if I can update it if Scratch includes more voice recognition for languages in the future. Wow.. I did not expect that this project would take me so long. I'm near 7 hours spent with all the testing, graphics, and debugging! (And I've been doing it in one sitting... it's currently 4 AM haha) Ultimately, I think the effort has been worth it though. Given Scratch 3.0's new functionality with translation and voice recognition, making a translator seemed like an inevitable project! The result looks fantastic and functions smoothly! :D #language #translator
