I'm only going to have this project shared temporarily... hopefully a real demo/teaser will be coming soon. I was just really happy to see how well this runs in 3.0 and wanted to show it off, unfinished as it is. -------------------------------------------------------- Press G, then wait. Once it's finished loading... -------------------------------------------------------- WASD to move (hold space to run when in "exploration mode") Q to switch which character you control (1 or 2) E to switch between "exploration mode" and "puzzle mode" (more info below) -------------------------------------------------------- Regardless of mode you can pick up the numbered black squares, though it doesn't mean much since the inventory system is unfinished. "Exploration Mode" lets you run around really quickly in 8 directions, but prevents you from interacting with boulders or switches. "Puzzle Mode" is slower and restricted to gridded movement, but while in it you can push boulders around and step on switches to turn them on and off. Note that you won't be able to step on or off a switch if doing so causes an invalid action (for example, someone else is standing where a wall will appear if you step off) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terrain in this map is divided into several vertical levels; you can see where high ground meets low ground because there is a little shadow at the bottom of cliffs. You can't walk up or down a cliff. All the cliffs are the same height, which just so happens to be the height of a boulder. Hint, hint. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONTENTS: Some Scratch 3.0 commentary and info on what I'll be doing in 2019. So, Scratch 3.0... Though I was initially frustrated with the glitch that was ruining vector images, I'm really happy with the speed 3.0 can run projects at. This number of tiles in this engine pushed the limits of the 2.0 offline editor, but is nice and smooth in 3.0. Hooray! Anyway, I haven't been particularly active on Scratch over the past year. School and summer job got in the way, as usual. Motivation to work on projects sort of comes and goes. But I really want to finish Isle of Dolor... I've put too much time and effort into it to give up. So I'm going to make a concerted effort to actually really finish Dolor this year. I've decided to format it as 3 seasons of 7 episodes each. I'm going to try and make all the episodes in the first season before realeasing any of them, so that when they do come out I can post them at set times on a weekly basis--like a real show. Fridays at 7pm Central or something like that. Not sure when the first season will be, or how long breaks between seasons will be. The important thing is that I swear the first episode will be this year. Look for a teaser or trailer in March or April; I may release the first episode early so I can get feedback before finishing the rest of the season. Anyway, happy Scratching! I want to get back into being an active part of the community, so feel free to ask questions, link to projects you want to show off, and comment on my profile.
