A SteelWing is a dragon with scales as hard as steel. They cannot breathe fire or ice, but what they can breathe is a thick smoke that makes it extremely hard to breathe and can conceal them; Only a SteelWing or a SeaWing can breathe through it, as SeaWings have gills (Although they would probably die eventually as soon as their gills get clogged up with soot) and SteelWings, amazingly, do not need oxygen. DustWings and SparkWings, however, have a higher resistance than most dragons, as they were around SteelWings for a longer time than the others. They're cunning and fairly intelligent, but mostly when it comes to fighting and defense. Their purpose is to be the strongest dragons on the planet. Each SteelWing actually has a different metal for their scales, although most have a layer of extremely fire-resistant metals, such as Inconel. They have amazing knowledge on metals and their uses. They have an ability to detect and drag nearby metals, and are able to use them to their advantage. Notably, most SteelWings have no wish to look pretty or polish their metal, as the rust makes pretty good camouflage. They only polish copper, because blue is not as good. Those who do wish to look pretty, however, oftentimes make their own trinkets out of the metal that they can find. (note: the feathers are made out of extremely thin metal. They still catch the air so they're able to fly, but they're much better gliders than fliers.)
SteelWings are unique because their main leader is not always the Queen. The leading dragon is always the strongest SteelWing, which means that the leader can, yes, be male. In fact, the current leader of the SteelWings is a male; the King, to be exact. The stronger a SteelWing is, the higher their ranking is. It is required for you to be directly below a rank to challenge them for theirs; only exception is for the King/Queen, as anyone can challenge them, even a loner. However, it has to be a pure SteelWing; The same does not go for any other rank except for merchants, as they can be any species or breed of species as long as they're strong or have good herbal knowledge. SteelWings don't care; They're pretty accepting as long as you aren't useless. Rankings from highest to lowest: Royalty King/Queen, also known as General (Depends; Always the strongest SteelWing, found through a battle to the death and accomplishments; Can be challenged for rank. The General is easily separated in a crowd, as they generally have a large, glistening, blood-red curved sword, strapped to their back with vines. It has been a General's prized possession for eons.) Queen/King (Also depends, as it is the current General's spouse; Generally their advisor, extremely respected but not as much as the General themself. Cannot be challenged.) Princes and Princesses (The General's children. Cannot be challenged.) Co-Leader (Takes lead when General is off doing something; General chooses this one, although it's usually second strongest. Can be challenged.) Royal Guards (Keeps the General safe in case of ambush; Strongest and most cunning. Can be challenged.) The Army Other Generals (Lead certain parts of the "tribe"; Can be challenged.) Colonel (Among the strongest) Major (Less strong then Colonel, stronger than anyone else.) Captain (Responsible for all the lower ranks; Requires intelligence and good leading skills) Lieutenant (Work depends on the type of lieutenant. Search it up.) Chief Warrant (Some dude who is extremely good at a specific skill) Warrant Officer (Some dude who is good at a specific skill) Sergeants (They train the Privates to be a better addition to the tribe) Privates (A soldier of the lowest rank.) The Lows Healers (They heal. Obviously.) Merchants (They scavenge for, sell and trade things with any dragon who's interested. They generally only trade weapons, metals, food or interesting trinkets. The lowest rank possible while actually being part of the SteelWing tribe. Only the weak and useless SteelWings are Merchants.) Prisoners (Those that have been captured. It can be someone who broke SteelWing law, a dragon from an enemy tribe, an enemy in general or a dragon who trespassed on SteelWing territory without permission. Nobody is a prisoner without a trial with the General as the judge.) Yes, there are no commoners. Either you're a fighter or you get a low rank. Commoners are useless here. For the New Beginnings RP. The species is made by me, but it's a species for Wings of Fire.
