Hold SPACE to view variables Ant is an art project/simulation about ants. At the start of the project, a queen ant spawns 100 of its offspring. The offspring then begin to roam around, some collecting food. Once food is collected, another ant is born. After 300 steps, an ant dies. Food drops every 1-5 seconds. Sometimes, the queen can get a taste of the food. As ants collect food for the queen to make more ants, the bodies begin to pile up. The air smells worse and worse as it disgusts the ants more and more. The ants can't take the horrible fumes and they slow down. If they can't keep up, the colony won't survive. There is one saving grace however! Rain! It washes all those disgusting, rotting ant bodies to help the colony thrive again! However, rain also washes off all the food, so the colony has to hope they're striving for long enough. Rain occurs every 60-160 seconds. Rain was going to originally kill of some of the ants, but it became too laggy for Scratch since Scratch can't handle over 300 clones reading the same if statement for every frame and so it was scrapped. There is a 1/50 chance that a newborn ant will be a sugar ant. Sugar ants run extremely fast, make sharp turns, and can take more steps than ants before dying. However, they are very tiny, making food collecting more difficult.
