About the poem: Name: A conversation Rhyme scheme: ABABBCCB stanza count: 4 line count: 32 inspiration: the thoughts I have during depression ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you're having trouble reading the poem in the project here it is right here: I write a letter to whoever sees As the crisp twilight air summons me My mind casts me into the breeze As a rite to truly set me free as what else could let me flee I tiptoe to the oceanside In hopes my depression would subside Little did I know that would never be I sat down to watch the sunset as a sweet zephyr passed on by an older man held a cigarette he saw me and said with a sigh 'You look sad, mind telling me why?' A tumbling trickle of thoughts were set loose Now I knew I couldn't make an excuse I gingerly spoke as I began to cry 'The time of my breath was a mistake It was native of another estate Born burning at the stake A personification of what all hate On my back lay burdens of gargantuan weight Now here I sit, mingling with the ocean Living with only this mental commotion Now before the water I wait and wait' There was an interruption midway through my thought The man spoke with a soft but stern force 'Do you wait for yourself to rot? To lose all the feelings of remorse For being alive through life's course? Let me speak truth to the hiding you you matter in this world, so please come through' before fading into his imaginary source
