The swirl was a pretty simple pattern but I had to add a lot off stuff to shift two quadrants that didn't line up, but it still wasn't perfect so I had to add a randomly distorting beam to obscure the seam. Basic formula is (sqrt((x*x)+(y*y)) + tan(y/x)).
