She is also rather quiet due to recent events, and can be quite persuasive. Bᴀᴄᴋsᴛᴏʀʏ So, we've all heard the stereotype that black cats are all unlucky and witch's cats, right? Well, Moon was sopposed to be one of these stereotypical black cats. Except for the fact that her fur was grey, with lavender and violet markings. Moon was born after a long line of black witch's cats, and each one was passed on to the next generation of the witch family she was born to. Except Moon was different: unlike her black ancestors, she was grey, with purple markings, and in this way Moon was marked out as "odd" from the start. When the witch that came before the one that was to be Moon's master died, Moon's "master" was appointed as a witch, and therefore she needed to get her cat companion. This was sopposed to be Moon, but the witch, Irene, didn't want to be ridiculed for the rest of her life by having a grey cat instead of a black cat. Irene told one of her friends this, and Moon overheard the conversation. She ran out of the little cabin that Irene lived in, and where she had, too, at the time, and she ran until she was standing at the edge of a cliff. Moon stared up at the giant moon hanging overhead, high in the sky, and she asked repeatedly, "Why am I not like everyone else? Why am I not good enough?", at first a whisper, and then a desperate cry, almost begging to be one of the so-called perfect black witch's cats that she wasn't. Moon stood there for a while, caught up in her own sobs, before a while later, she got herself together, and went back to Irene's cabin, collected a witch's hat that had been tailored to fit her and a good-luck charm in the shape of a crescent moon, and then went back to the cliff she had stood on moments before. She paused a few seconds, staring at the sky. Then, Moon took a few steps back, ran forward, and then leaped off. But instead of falling, like most cats would when they tried to fly, Moon flew, for she had something that all the others didn't: she was unique. She flew away into the horizon, to a better future, to a more beautiful world than being led constantly by another. She was free, and it was beautiful. ~ 14 cat years later, when Moon was Moon had set herself up a small but successful apothecary on the bluffs where she once stared off of. Everything was going smoothly for her, until one day Irene came to her apothecary, as she had heard of it and how people came from all over the town, since it was known for being the best there was. Irene, recognizing Moon from when she was a kitten, was furious. She tried to get Moon to come back to the life she was assigned to, but Moon refused. "You wanted me free, now I am free. You had your chance, now I'm not leaving." Moon told her would-be master boldly. Irene stormed out of the cabin that Moon had built for her shop, softly vowing revenge, just loud enough so that Moon couldn't hear. If she had known, perhaps Moon would have been able to prevent what would happen in the very near future, but perhaps not. For soon Moon was to meet the love of her life, a young gentlecat working as a astronomer's apprentice named Howlite. Moon loved him with all her heart, and he loved her with all his heart. The only problem was that Irene saw this, and one day, when Howlite was going over to Moon's apothecary to see her, Irene stepped out from the shadows from behind the willow tree that grew next to Moon's apothecary and house, and commanded her stereotypical black cat to shoot him down, his last words being a call out for Moon, a final gesture to let her know that he was there. Moon dropped everything, and ran outside to find the dead body of Howlite at the feet of Irene's cat, who was at Irene's feet. Irene scooped that cat up, and it purred scornfully. Howlite's spirit lifted out of his body at that moment, and only Moon could see it. "Never forget who you are, Moon." he whispered in Moon's ear, and slung a charm in the shape of a star onto her tail alongside the moon shaped one, laced with his spirit. Moon blinked back tears, staring out over the bluff like she had all that time ago, at the huge crescent moon hanging in the vast blanket of sky. After a split second, in all of her anger and her greif, Moon surged forward, feeling magic flow through her very bones, stronger than ever, and she threw Irene and her wretched cat off the bluff, to whatever the depths were hundreds of meters below, maybe even more. It all turned in slow motion for all three of the creatures rushing downwards, and then one broke free, turned, set back down on the cliff's edge, (Cᴏɴᴛɪɴᴜᴇᴅ ɪɴ Nᴏᴛᴇs ᴀɴᴅ Cʀᴇᴅɪᴛs)
