Niegreos Here's my weekly challenge for March SWC 2019, create your own country. (I'm @smartcutecandy) Sorry about the poor quality of the map...I'm absolutely terrible at drawing when it's not humans or animals so I decided to just create a map of how America's states turned out. I may draw some of the animals I created in the future. :) ~~~ Make sure to click the flag to see the map key. Nigreos is a dystopian version of America, invaded by a humanoid alien race called Nie in the year 2061. It’s ruled under a monarchy, the most recent regent being King Ashe. Ashe is the youngest king in centuries- at nineteen he succeeded to the throne when his father suddenly died. The cause of his death is presumed to be accidental food poisoning, though some have gone far enough to suspect treason. No suspects have been named and no further investigation was conducted. The Nie used to live on their own planet and migrated to Earth to obtain more resources. Their takeover was devastating to the human race, who had since dismissed the idea of extraterrestrial civilization. Many states began to suffer due to the extreme curfew rules and deprivation of resources which once made them prosper. The Nie people remained oblivious to the suffering of their new planet-mates, having been quickly segregated into three past states of America and shut off from the rest of the country. Nie are humanoid organisms which resemble Peruvian humans closest appearance-wise. Female Nie are known for their varying levels of extreme empathy which can be honed as she grows older to control when and where the empathy is used. Some Nie women have been reported to have such strong empathic abilities it almost becomes a parallel to telepathy or mind-reading. Usually the strongest Nie empaths are able to detect lying and unseen emotion at their peak ability, but not have any mind-reading capabilities. Nie are acclimated to living in a forest/jungle type environment. Their planet was mostly water, like Earth, though had more trees and jungles on their land. Their houses were often built to accommodate forests and trees, though with modern technology that surpassed human 21st century tech by about fifty years. Within Nie states, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Nevada, districts are in place- where you live depends on your family name. Rations are distributed to each group depending on the number of people inside the group. Typical population size of districts is about 5,000 people, with anywhere between 100 and 200 districts per state. Many plants and animals did not migrate with the Nie to Earth. For fear of contaminating their new planet, they only brought domesticated pets to Earth and no plants, knowing that earth would be full of lots of flora and fauna of its own. Zeezee- most closely resembles an earth llama. Has distinct spots, wool like the hair of an Earth poodle, and stands at no more than 20 inches high. Comes in a variety of colors. Hops when excited or happy. Has an even temperament. Eliast- most closely resembles a cross between an earth parakeet and an earth legend dragon. Has multicolored scales and usually comes in a blue or green shade. Wings like a bird, but with a head and neck like a dragon or other mythical serpent. Usually has some sort of ridge or feather pattern on head. Flies and is capable of mimicry of nearly any noise. Fiercely loyal to its owner and imprints when hatched. Comparable in size to an earth bearded dragon. Luewe- most closely resembles a cross between an earth wolf and earth serval. Mostly grey with some varying degrees in color and markings. Has a wolf-like face, a lean body and large erect ears like a serval, and a fluffy wolf-like tail. Intelligent and loyal, can understand many voice commands. Known to be protective. Average weight 70 lbs. Lives for 30+ years, average lifespan is 25. Queie- most closely resembles an earth hare. Average weight between 10 and 13 lbs. Comes in a wide range of colors, from white, lilac, grey, brown and more. Maned like an earth lion or a great pyrenees earth dog. Large ears can reach up to 20 inches in length. Wise and extremely empathic. Known to rival earth wild primate intelligence. Legends tell of some queie learning to use paw motions to communicate, though none have been proven.
