You can use that Gold to buy Magic, or Staffs (Disclaimer : Once you buy a new Magic or Staff, they will not auto-equip, you have to manually equip them using the equip button). Your Magic does less damage than Staffs, but Staffs require cool downs. Monster's health can vary, depending on what Magic and Staff you have equipped when the Monster spawns in. Health can be as low as 100 (Starter Magic, No Staff), and as high as 650 (Mystery Magic, Angelic Staff).
