Name: Filou [French for Trickster.] Age: 17 Would be used as a main oc, drawn often, and rped with. Personality: Hyper, a joking gentleman, likes to be polite to his victims. He often wears a broad smile or smirk, and enjoys being the most dramatic possible. Can be sarcastic and quite annoying at times. Traits: ~He'll do absolutely ANYTHING for money (or candy). Is very quick on his feet, but not particularly strong or heavy. ~Tends to be clever, though when others downplay and degrade money or sweets, he can grow extremely rash. ~Despite his lighthearted joking,he never hesitates to harm or kill. History/Backstory: Filou was taken by his mother, who had the same ears and tail as him, to an old, fairly successful 'sweets shop' when he was around 6 months(and therefore forcefully weaned). The sweets shop was owned by a couple, a man in his early 40s and a woman in her late 20s. The store sold a variety of chocolates, candies, etc. etc., like the stereotypical candy store. The two of them took him in as a good luck omen, and raised him fairly well for about 3 years, during which the child grew curious about everything, and why people did certain things certain ways, and never thought it weird to have a significant other around 15 years younger than oneself. However, one thing he did understand was the need to hide his ears and tail. His ears could easily fit beneath a hat or bandana, and his tail was small enough at the time to hide under his shirt. On the evening that symbolized his 3rd year there [he was about 3 and a half), the store was robbed. The thieves demanded the older man's fortune. The store-owner blatantly refused, instead asking them to take his 3-months pregnant wife as payment. (He had only ever wanted one son to transfer the business to, and it looked as though that would be Filou(back then, named Nathaniel.) His wife, refusing abortion, had been having some rough arguments with the store owner.) The thieves left him alive, ransacked the store, and failed to even notice the huddled kid under a display. However, they did take the wife, which Filou/Nathaniel didn't understand. After they left, he crept over to the glazed-eyed store owner. "They broke everything," The man said mournfully, not caring about his wife. "And they took Miss Melanie." The child murmured. "Why did this happen?" The older man's eyes settled on Filou, coming to focus. "They wanted money that we didn't have. Remember this, Nathaniel. Money can get you anything, but the lack of it will lead you to ruin." His eyes suddenly noticed the ears sticking out of the kid's head-He'd lost his hat in the commotion. "That's right," he mused. "You aren't human, you little devil. And this is the third year. You brought this upon me... And YOU will be the one to pay for the shop being rebuilt. You could fetch a pretty penny on the black market..." He lurched to his feet, revealing worn whiskey bottles behind the clerk's counter that he'd been sitting at. His breath smelled stale as he stumbled at the small child, his hands reaching, grasping... Filou/Nathaniel ducked, instincts kicking into overdrive. He noticed a peppermint-designed swiss army knife that had fallen from its display on the ground near him. A sudden rush of adrenaline shoved him in the right direction, and he raced over shards of glass and plastic, scooping up the small, fairly useless weapon. Pain lanced through his bare feet, but the child forged on, ignoring it. He turned and faced the shopkeeper, the snarl of a cornered animal twisting his soft, childish features. The older man lumbered after him, ignoring the blade that Filou/Nathaniel switched out. As he reached the toddler, he stopped suddenly, and then screamed as he felt the plunge of a knife into his thigh. The sound only further woke Filou's canine instincts, and he withdrew the knife, then attacked the man. Later, Filou could not have said what had happened, had someone thought to ask. He was taken in by the authorities-Some were nicer, asking who had come into the store, slashed a man to death, and then stolen his wife? Others were more suspicious of the 3 year old, noting that the child was covered in blood and seemingly undeterred by the man's death. Scarier to the child, though, was that he had no idea which version was true. Nonetheless, he was not kept under much security-Even those believing he was a murderer laughed at the idea of a toddler-even an oddly tailed and fur-eared toddler-running away. And yet that very thing happened, Filou/Nathaniel making his great escape chased by councilors and paramedics in uniform through the nighttime streets. He never spent long anywhere, finding the wrong company and then losing it. His next victim was french-speaking, and though he did not die, the man screamed insults, calling him a trickster and a cheat as the young child made his way off with many valuables. The name stick, and so Nathaniel became Filou. Eventually, he came to remember the events of that night in his childhood, but was never depressed to think of the old shop-keeper's death. He only mourned the loss of his adoptive mother, and so decided to always be a courteous killer and thief. He didn't want to be like the robbers who had taken a woman as their find-It was a disturbing thought to Filou. He always craved sugar, candy, and other things linked to his old life, and forever remembered the lesson the shop owner, his deceased adoptive father, had taught him. "Remember this, Nathaniel. Money can get you anything, but the lack of it will lead you to ruin."
