You will find ores at around 120 and below, the deeper you go the more different ores you will find. Hold the grey block in the middle to mine and break the center block to go deeper. Optimal mining depth added - If you go below it you pickaxe will slowly lose power. Mining status added - If your depth is near your optimal mining depth set it to still or up in settings, you wont go down.
