This is the starter code for Operation Code: Coding at the Grocery Store. Help us finish the grocery store game! You will learn how to: add sprites, copy code from one sprite to another, add sound, change a sprite’s behavior, and debug a code. To get started, click on "See Inside." As you make the changes below, save the file so you don't lose your work! This code uses the arrow keys to move the shopping cart to the checkout cash register. Your challenge is to change the code so that the cart can not go through walls. Make the game your own!
This program is part of Cherry Lake Press's Operation Code series. This series presents early elementary learners with a story-based challenge they can solve using Scratch 3. Simple text and pre-populated templates guide students to deepen their understanding of coordinates, movement, sprite characteristics, events, and more. Each book includes extension activities and opportunities for students to customize and experiment with their code. A “Pro Tip!” on each page helps students grasp the conceptual understanding behind the code block. The cash register, stopwatch, and shopper images are in the public domain and downloaded from Pixabay.com. The maze was created by the authors. All other graphics are available within the Scratch 3 software.
