She communicates to animals to find out who she should hunt/the rude ones so the good animals can still live. She also found a wounded lightning bug and took care of him. He was very grateful, so he gave her a glowing globe that contained powers, the ones she has now. The globe is a present for her to remember him. If the globe leaves her, the powers go with it.
