(I half suggest reading Day 5 and Day 6 before reading this; it might help you understand it a bit better) Day Seven - Crowded I couldn’t believe that the Academy was starting up again already. I stood at the east-facing window of my bedroom, watching as the train slowly pulled onto the platform in the front. As soon as the doors opened, a flood of indistinguishable figures dismounted and began running up the fight of stairs that led up to the front doors of the Academy. There was a knock at my room door, startling me from my thoughts, and I turned to see my mom standing in the doorway. “You ready to go face the mob?” she joked lightly. I snorted, dashing over to my bed to quickly slip on my gloves and arm bracers. “I’ll never be not overwhelmed by that many people, you know it,” I replied, finally putting on my favorite leather jacket. “I’ve got something for that,” my mom said, walking over and reverently pinning a scuffed copper badge to my jacket. I glanced down to see the number 4 engraved on it and immediately understood: this was my new Year 4 badge. I smiled faintly. “Now come on, you’re father’s already waiting for us in the Great Hall.” Yup, I was far from prepared to “go face the mob.” The Great Hall was alive with talking and cheering, shouts and—worryingly—roars from the few full-blood dragons that attended. The five humungous, circular tables that the students sat at were packed, and the professors’ and teachers’ table didn’t have much space left at it either, with the combination of all the teaching people, their kids and spouses, plus the headmaster himself. I was just about to sit down when something slammed into me, almost knocking me over. I looked in surprise to see— “Vanadine Hopper?!” I said in astonishment. I did my best to try and untangle myself from her hug, but the little hybrid wasn’t so easily deterred. [Hhhhhh- this will never be finished, thanks to my procrastination and lack of inspiration.
