Name: Akai Gender: Male Akai was the only survivor of a disastrous litter. His siblings were either stillborn, or too weak to live beyond a few hours. This also claimed the life of his mother, which caused his father to hate him. Over the years of his growth, his father’s hatred for his son grew. Akai’s father had a very deep bond with his wife, and he never truly got over her sudden death. He strongly believed that Akai had taken the life of his mate. Akai was forced to learn the necessities of survival from other wolves, mainly from a nearby family of wolves. He commonly went to a nearby family and got along with their youngest pup, Zest; Akai considered them his true family, as his true father wanted nothing to do with him, and resented the idea of him thriving. The older Akai grew, the more hateful his father got. Finally, one day Akai’s father decided to take Akai to the runes on an unexpected trick. Akai had always thought the runes had been lost, and no real clue what this sudden expedition was about, but his father knew that he had to do something. They finally arrived at the runes, and as soon as Akai reached the middle of the fire rune, his father attacked hem. Confused, and shocked, Akai quickly threw him off. This would eventually lead to a somewhat lengthy battle, while unknowingly activating two of the runes. (Wolf blood of the same ‘pack’ was shed). Near the climax of the battle, Akai loses his wing in a battle, forever dooming him to be an outcast. This enrages him, and he rips his father’s throat out, killing him. Eventually being spotted, and disoriented by the runes, he fled the scene. News of the killing eventually got out to the packs, and while most were fearful, there were plenty of wolves who were willing to find Akai. One of these wolves would also include Zest, who didn’t understand the sudden violence of his best friend. Soon, Akai realizes that he’s being hunted. Over the period of Akai fleeing from the search part, he gets increasingly more and more disoriented by his surroundings. This was because the activated runes - fire and electricity - were affecting him. Eventually, he is caught by an edge of a cliff in a weakened state. Without any hope of escape, he begins to panic, which concerns Zest. Suddenly, Akai blacks out, which ends up causing a storm that disperses the pack in different directions. In the ensuing chaos, one of the wolves tackles Akai off the cliff and is then struck by lightning. Zest, startled, goes after the two, but is unsure who to save. His best friend, or someone from his pack? Ultimately, Zest decides to save the member of his pack. Akai suddenly regains consciousness as he watches his friend save the other wolf, and feels both angry and hurt - right before he hits the ground. Weak, weary, and with a damaged wing, Akai remained sore but relatively unhurt. Feeling without a purpose and fueled by rage, Akai sets out to make a difference in his world. In this society, both normal wolves, and winged wolves coexist peacefully. Although each wolf likes to hang out with their respective groups, there are rarely any instances of conflict. However, wolves that are born with only one wing, or lost one in a fight are heavily looked down on. They can no longer fly, so winged wolves heavily dislike them. Regular wolves don’t like them because they see having wings as a privilege. Wolves with only one wing don’t really fit in anywhere and are typically looked down upon. One-winged wolves are usually emaciated, since the land packs can take down most of the larger prey, and the winged wolves’ advantage of speed via flight. (I'll put flaws and other things if I have time) Theme songs- Dust Bowl Dance - Mumford & Sons State of My Head - Shinedown Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden EDIT: Yeah I did forget the bandages on his wing; we'll just say that he gets them after his fall.
