This is an arcade-style game for nostalgic fans of recording tape--more specifically reel to reel. Most of the features on this game relate to tape recording and playback. 1 to 4 players can play--each player represents one of the four recording tracks. Each player has 10 rolls to score as many points as possible before their tape runs out. Extra rolls can be earned and lost (explained below). One activated (green flag), press and hold the G to generate coins (indicated by the tape counter). You must hold the G until it reads at least 25, and you get one credit. 100 earns you 6 credits. Additional credits can be earned during the game in replays (free games). Press the start button to begin and to add additional players; On your turn, click on the tape head to "Roll the Tape Deck". You will roll either a PLAY, STOP, REWIND, FAST-FORWARD or STOP If you roll a: PLAY: five other controls (channel, volume, tone, balance, and speed) will roll to determine points scored. You'll have one chance to change one of the five controls to roll again for a better score--by which you click on the control you wish to reroll. If you are satisfied with your first roll, click the tape head again to accept it. After the reroll, if earned, points are scored. RECORD: It is to a player's advantage to roll this. Larger points are scored (up to 1000 for each channel). The five playback channels reroll as in PLAY, plus the two input controls--which determine the large points. The player then has the reroll option as in PLAY, plus the two input controls. After You receive your RECORD points, all players share the playback points. STOP: The tape stops and all bonus points earned (indicated by the tape counter) are scored. If there are more players, play passes to the next player. REWIND: You gain 2 to 5 extra rolls (up to the point of unwinding).; FAST FORWARD: Try to avoid this one. You lose 2 to 5 rolls); Bonus points are earned by earning points from the track a player represents. Scoring 0 on a RECORD or a PLAY will cause a loss of bonus points earned up to that point. Bonus can also be collected by scoring a flat tone and a center balance at the same time or for having a balance in points without a center balance. Once a player's tape runs out, bonus points are scored and that player is finished. It is still possible to score additional points by other player's RECORDing playback.
I have always been a reel-to-reel fan and I thought a game for all us nostalgic fans would be fun. Note that the tape deck shown on this game is not based on any particular model.
