Our goal for this video game was to crate a fun way for kids in 3rd to 5th grade to practice their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and devision skills. We came up with the idea to have a dog chasing a ball, who runs into obstacles along the way. In order to get around the obstacles, you must answer the math questions. To incorporate all of the math skills, we decided to have levels, each focusing on a different skill. We later found this to be a bit ambitious, and we ended up just focusing on addition. We created four sprites, the dog, the dog's owner, the ball, and the log (our obstacle). Our game begins in the park, with the owner throwing the ball into the forest. The owner then asks the player to help the dog retrieve it. When the player replies, our stage switches to the forest, where the actual game takes place. The dog gives instructions on how to play, and the player is then challenged to a series of addition questions. The player must answer the majority of the ten questions that are given to him or her to be able to eventually reach the ball. If a question is answered incorrectly, the dog will pose the question a second time. If the question is answered correctly, the dog will jump over the log, and appear back at the other end of the screen. This repeats itself ten times before the ball is found. When the ball appears on the screen, the player is asked to click on the ball, which then moves to the dog's mouth. The questions stop appearing, and the game ends.
