Song: Alan Walker - Faded So, uh, about that thumbnail, I had a reason. I was asked to make a fluffy pomeranian puppy with lots of sparkles and glitter everywhere. Now, I've already made a pomeranian pup that had a similar "cute" vibe for somebody else in a DT. Having this person ask me for what was basically the same thing is devaluing to both me as a creator and the person I made the other design for. By telling me to copy the design I made for another person, you're telling me that 1) you don't trust my judgement as an artist to make something you'd like, and 2) that you don't care that the concept you want me to copy already belongs to somebody else. And another thing-- I don't want to be forced into a "specialty" role. I don't want to be a "character actor." I'm thinking of opening trades again, but I feel like since I've accepted requests from people who want cute, fluffy characters, that's what I'm going to get known for. I have to ask, if you can help it, please don't ask for the kawaii, sparkly, fluffy characters. If you really need one, then fine, but it's probably not going to be exactly what you imagined. I know the way it works with filmmaking, and Scratch art is just a scaled-down replica of that industry. It hasn't gotten bad yet, but I'm really not the right person to go to. I may be overreacting about this. Who knows? Sorry for the long reflection. TL;DR: I'm thinking of re-opening trades, but I have to ask people to, if they can help it, refrain from specifically asking for the cute and fluffy character trope. And definitely don't ask for "a copy of [previous work here]." P.S. - if you want to disagree with me, then speak your mind, but pLEASE try to keep it civil! The last time I posted a "rant" like this, people came at me with personal attacks instead of debate. I'm not looking for fights, I'm looking for a conversation, or at most, an engaging disagreement. Thank you for your consideration!
