--Welcome to Exubar-- 500 years ago, Exubar was a beautiful place. Filled with lush trees, bursting to the rim with green, exotic life. Back then, it was nicknamed, “Planet of the Birds,” as it was fabled that you could hear the birds singing from miles away. It was tropical, with the surface tangled with brush and flowers. It was truly lovely. Soon, the once primitive life on Exubar started to evolve, creating giants--called the Wantels. For awhile, they were kind, loving creatures. They were true pacifists. But one day, war broke out. And invading race came, the Remurrs. They were a species made to fight. Great, lumbering beasts, that were so malformed by technology that they were barely recognizable as what they once were. At first, they completely destroyed the Wantals. The Wantals simply refused to fight, hoping that if they showed love and kindness, that the Remurrs would stop attacking. But, the Remurrs just had it coded into them that the only path to victory was through violence. Soon, the Wantals had to use that method, too. They found that deep inside of them, they had great destructive power. They were able to wipe out the Remurrs completely. But once the Waltals’ power had been released, there was no going back. Some tried to go back to the old ways on Exubar, many were greedy with their new power. They went and killed anyone who rebelled. The Wantals were a perfect example of a pacifist race turned into relentless, ruthless, killers. They tried to get more power as quickly as they could. And soon, much like the Remurrs, they turned to technology to give them that. Quickly, not only they were encased in metal, but their entire planet was, too. Yet still, they craved more. They needed more. Much like the Remurrs, they started warring other races. They stole the technology of the people they killed, and created huge factories to gruesomely implement it into their bodies. But soon, they faced a problem that many other races have faced: global warming. Though gaining vast resources of power, they sacrificed their own planet. While many of the Wantons tried to save their planet, their efforts were simply futile. The damage had already been done--and the damage was great. The Wantons boarded up into spaceships, and flew away. Over the years, everything on Exubar started to melt. The factories fell first, then slowly the metal shell they put over the planet washed away, and then the planet itself. Today, Exubar is just a boiling orb of copper, floating in space. Over the years, many other races have tried to inhabit Exubar, yet none have succeeded. It is just too toxic of a planet--the boiling oceans seem to consume everything and everyone that tries to conquer them. While some have come close, even to today, Exubar remains a ghost town. And, if people ever tell stories of the great planet Exubar, I hope they remember it as the Planet of the Birds--forever its true name.
