Scarlet lived with her mother. Her father was arrested and sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit. Her mother was devastated by this. Not only was her mother depressed, but they couldn't make enough money to survive. Scarlet and her mother were eventually kicked out of their home. They lived in the dump for several months, going from house to house, begging for food. Finally she got a job. Not Scarlet's mother- Scarlet. It was a low-pay job, they made just enough money to buy clothes and food. Their life wasn't enjoyable, but they could survive. One day, a gang of criminals came to the alley. They tore off Scarlet's ear as they tried to kill her. They tore off her leg and killed her mother. Scarlet escaped despite her bleeding leg, her fear driving her. She dove and hid as the gang came after her. They went past her. Later they were caught and put in prison. Scarlet was put in the hospital. If she had not been helped, the wound would have killed her. Later on, she was put in an orphanage, given therapy for her trauma, and life was good enough, certainly better than life in the dump. She missed her mother, but she was okay. She never went hungry, never near death again. I believe she will be adopted soon, by the winner of a drawing contest..
