No story is as shrouded in quiet terror, though, as that of the Celestial once known as Prince Vallis. Born long ago, back when groups of Celestials still gathered together in caravan-like tribes and fought amongst their rivals for places in the stars, Vallis had been the son of his tribe's leader. He was royal, and although he did his best to remain kind and humble, the luxury and power crept into his head as it always seems to. His tribe, through a stroke of luck, happened upon a beautiful paradise of a planet during one of their long interstellar travels. It was a near-unanimous decision they made to settle down there at once, and they quickly befriended the local population of mortals, learning to live alongside them in harmony. Vallis, slowly becoming spiteful and bitter in his arrogance, saw no reason why they should treat the mortals as their own. Mortals were far beneath them; they should be servants, not friends. Behind the backs of those who'd oppose him, little by little he sowed the seeds of hatred in the thoughts of the weaker-minded tribe members. Once he had poisoned enough of his tribe members' mindsets, he led a revolt against his parents and their ridiculous alliance with the mortals. They had the motivation but not the numbers and were swiftly defeated, with many Celestials and mortals alike losing their lives that day. Outcast by his family and the tribe he once might have ruled, they tried to exile him far away. But the planet had grown used to its three suns - the King, Queen, and Prince Vallis - and without the third, it began to wither. Refusing to let their paradise die, the King and Queen hastily thought of a solution; they sent soldiers to recapture Vallis, and brought him back. Powerful spells were cast and barriers of Celestial magic arose to keep Vallis trapped in place - he could circle the planet but never touch it in case he tried to revolt again, and also never leave its atmosphere lest the planet die without his light. He was rather content... After all, they had given him his own kingdom in the sky, where he was waited on hand and foot by servants afraid to upset the murderous Prince and become his next target. Still though, thoughts of vengeance stir in his mind... The only door out of his prison sits atop the planet's tallest mountain, accessible only to those who walk its earth. The irony of it all, really, that the only one capable of freeing him would have to be a mortal... So he waits. He waits for the mortals on the planet's surface to forget his story and grow curious of that strange door atop the mountain. It's been a few decades now, and mortals become curious easily; it won't be much longer until Vallis reigns again...
