" Paradise. That's what she called it. " ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello! This is my first short(ish) story shared on Scratch! Hooray! *crickets chirping*... Despite the very misleading title of the story, this story is actually about the Cape Town Water Crisis, and by writing this, I was trying to spread awareness of the struggle in places like these. And although there is a lot of describing things in the story (I honestly have absolutely no idea why I felt the need to describe the ocean fifty thousand times but whatever) I hope that the real message of the story was able to come through clearly. So the Cape Town Water Crisis is a large water shortage in Cape Town, South Africa. In my story, Amahle (pronounced 'Uh-mah-lee' - I think - correct me if I'm wrong) is a young girl living on the coast of Cape Town, who spends her free time watching the ocean (hence the overload of ocean talk). One day, her mind wanders to all of the terrible things that her town has and is experiencing at the time, and although I may have exaggerated some of the things a bit (at least I / hope / they are exaggerated - if they aren't, then that is beyond terrible) they are quite real, and although there is some heart-breaking stuff in there, it is all true. Day Zero - So for those who didn't know, the Cape Town Water Crisis was caused by overuse of water supplies, resulting in a water shortage. And Day Zero is the day that local water sources are shut off to the public. So you have to go without water for a whole day, which - especially to young children - could be quite dangerous. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I tried to do as much research as I could on the matter, but if I have got any details wrong, then please tell me in the comments, and I will do my best to fix it :) Also, I lack in spelling and grammar skills, so please inform me if I have misspelled a word, or used incorrect grammar. Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I personally have family in South Africa, so this is a very important matter to me, and it breaks my heart to know that this is what they might be dealing with. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I am very sorry if this bored you to sleep, I reread the story over and it wasn't really a story with a plot, but it was trying to spread the word about the Cape Town Water Crisis.

I also used her 'Colour Guide' project to help me with some of the colour descriptions, so a HUGE thanks to @stardipped <33 Research ~ Google
