Shattered Heart | SWC Writing Contest Entry -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (left and right arrows to read) This is my entry to the SWC Writing Contest, and I am proud of myself for finishing (after typing furiously for two days straight, desperately trying to finish) - and I actually finished (hehe, only a day before the due date though). So, judges... enjoy! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, if you couldn't already tell, this is a depressing story. It's about two friends - Iris and Kristie - who are faced with a challenge. Iris is tragically diagnosed with Leukemia - a type of cancer. Throughout the story, there is a spiralling downpour of emotions, and the story ends in... well, see for yourself! Go on, read it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is Leukemia? Leukemia is a type of blood cancer. If you have Leukemia, that means that there is some sort of problem with the production of your blood cells. It usually affects the white blood cells. So basically, if you have Leukemia, your body produces abnormal white blood cells, which don't function properly. This affects your blood and can be fatal if not treated early. Some effects of Leukemia are: - Fevers or Chills - Constant Fatigue - Infections - Losing weight - Bleeding and Bruising - Bone Pain Leukemia is serious, and by writing this story, I was hoping to inform you about this particular type of cancer, and how terrible it is. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Extra Info: I made the background of the text orange, because the Leukemia ribbon is orange, and I wanted to add this small detail to the bigger picture. There are likely to be spelling and/or grammar mistakes, so please politely point them out in the comments. This goes the same for criticism - constructive criticism only, please!
