oof idk if this is what you had in mind but oh well. 378 words. Ruby Bennett was a nice, normal, 16 year old girl. Except for one thing… She was missing her right arm. She lost it to an accident when she was 11. Today was her first day at a new school. She was, to put it mildly, not happy about it. But her parents knew best, she supposed. As she quietly stood up in front of the mirror, brushing her glossy black hair and thinking to herself about how glad she was born left-handed, her father walked in to her bedroom. "Ruby, darling, you'll be late for school, " he told her. "You're going to be late." "I know, dad. Don't rush me." She replied calmly. "Of course, Ruby." She quickly finished her hair and gave her dad an awkward half-hug sort of thing. They smiled at each other before heading to the kitchen. Ruby helped herself to a few grapes and a cookie, too, because nobody was watching. She ate quickly and stepped outside to wait for her new bus. She gazed down at her pale skin, sighing. She tried to Ignore the place her right arm used to be. Thankfully, before she could focus too much on the negative, the bus arrived. She stepped on quietly and heard whispering everywhere. She was used to it, so she slipped into an empty seat and waited to get to her school. But at the next stop, a mean-looking girl was stepping into the bus. She went and sat in the seat across the aisle from Ruby, and was on Ruby's right side. "Hey, you," The mean looking girl said, looking to Ruby. "What's your name?" Ruby was surprised, but replied anyway. "Ruby." "Thats… a nice name." Ruby smiled. "Would you mind telling me yours?" Her green eyes had a kind look to them. "O-oh! I'm Lamia…" "Wanna come sit with me? " Asked Ruby. Lamia nodded and switched seats. Lamia noticed, but never commented on Ruby's arm situation. She even defended her against a bully. From that day forward they were inseparable. If they could do something together, they would. They may not be much, but they cared for each other. And that was all they needed.
