He struggles with keeping his head under pressure and can’t deal with a life with no change, making his immortality hard for him to deal with. Johann is somewhat self-destructive and due to his ability to regenerate even from death itself, being immortal, he enjoys to live on the edge and try every possibility, even if a choice could cause harm to himself. He also has difficulty being around people and understanding their feelings, and feels drained after being around more than five people at a time. This stems mostly from the fact that he buries his own feelings so deep in himself that he even has trouble finding them. “Dere” archetype: Kuudere Family: Johann has several very distant relatives in Ireland going by the name of Gallagher. In a large outbreak of the septicemic and bubonic form of the plague when he was eight, his parents and older brothers all died, but not without urging him to leave for a completely different town, in case the plague would die out before it spread across the entire country. Eventually the plague died down, and Johannan soon easily found a job as a grave digger, which wasn’t hard, as many had died, and there were many bodies to be buried from the recent Great Mortality. He worked in this position, at the barest minimum of survival, for eleven years. On the last year, an apparition appeared to him. He attributed this to lack of sleep, as he was up for most of the day and night. However, the apparition, or demon, as it said it was, was persistent to the point of following him around everywhere. Eventually, Johann became curious of the creature and began to speak to it, much to the horror of those few friends he had. The rest of the town, who couldn’t see the creature, all drifted even further away from the young boy, all agreeing that he was insane. The demon then asked Johann to enter a contract with him; a mutual contract where Johann would be kept alive by the demon, and when it was his time to depart from the world of the living, the demon would take his soul. He rejected this offer not once, but twelve times. However, after much determination on the demon’s part, Johann became overcame by his natural greed of knowledge and signed the contract in the dead of night, leaving the town immediately. The demon, Mephistopheles, made him a completely different person. He was immediately singled out as stronger, much taller, and wittier than the average human. The demon kept him alive, as promised. In the early 1700s, Mephistopheles, who had been traveling with Johann without hiding his natural form from the sight of others, was captured by the Catholic church and quartered, rendering him unable to do much. He possessed Johann with his spirit, using him as a vessel to retrieve the parts of his physical form until 1911. The experience drastically scarred the real Johann, leaving him mentally broken after the spirit of the demon returned to its original body.
