CHAPTER 3 OUT! This is a story I wrote called Wishing Star! It's set 30 years after the events of The Dragonet Prophecy. The Pantalans can cross the sea thanks to a gigantic bridge, and have spots at JMA. There will be a new chapter every few weeks! I will write more stuff if this gets a lot of loves. Chapter One; Part One SABER I wake up with my eyes closed. The way I can tell I’m awake? I can feel the freezing ice shelf under my head. I drearily open one eye and find my mother standing over me. “Saber, you don’t want to miss the first day of school!” she says proudly. “You know we stayed up late last night preparing.” I reply. And I’ll miss Firefly, I think. Firefly might be a RainWing, but she still is my very best friend in the whole of Pyrrhia! And I’ll miss you, mom. But I don’t want to hurt Polar (my mother)’s feelings, so I add “Okay. I’m coming.'' I lift myself up, my legs screaming in protest, and walk as best I can to the table. I am greeted with my father Snowcap’s smile and an entire stack of pancakes! “We wanted to make sure you have enough energy for the day.” says Snowcap. I sink my teeth into the first pancake, and catch myself wondering what we will eat at Jade Mountain Academy. I hope there is food fit for IceWings there; there is no IceWing teacher at the school. Snowcap’s voice gently interrupts my thoughts. “Come on, let’s go!” he says, and I realize that I have subconsciously eaten the entire stack of pancakes. After a day of travelling, and a night of camping, we arrive at Jade Mountain. It looks very majestic with the rising sun behind it, and a sign on the entrance reads: Welcome Students! written in what looks like berry juice. An adult brown dragon walks out - Clay - and says “Hi there! What’s your name?” “Saber” I tell him. “Oh, right. Hmmm, let me find you.... Ah. Here we are. Saber, Amethyst Winglet, third cave on the left, first cave on the right. The first time the bell rings, go to the history cave to meet your winglet.” “Remember, be safe.” Snowcap emphasizes on the be safe, so I know that it’s important. “Bye mom! Bye dad!” I say. “Bye Saber!” they say. I walk into the third cave on the left and then the (was it second? No, definitely first) first cave on the right, and find a hammock suspended from the ceiling made out of vines and leaves, another hammock, this one looking like a spider web, and a shelf of ice. I smile. I know which bed is meant for me. I go over and discover a rack of scrolls, with titles like Ten Little Scavengers and The Princess and the Pearl. There is also a pile of blank scrolls and an inkwell across from me. Maybe I can start a journal. A RainWing walks in, but she isn’t eye-melting yellow, or happy pink. Her scales are… pale green? I have NEVER seen that color on RainWings before. I bet it means ‘scared’, or ‘nervous’ because she is looking quite worried. I go over to her. “Hi.” I say. “I’m Saber.” “I’m Ginger.” says the RainWing. “Why are you that color?” I ask her. “Well… it’s a bit of a secret.” “I’m great at keeping secrets.” Ginger sighs. “I’m scared of school.” she whispers. “What?" I ask, confused. "Why?” “Well, the Darkstalker rose from these mountains thirty years ago and he disappeared again so WHY IS EVERYONE NOT WORRIED THAT THE NIGHTMARE DRAGON IS UNDER OUR TALONS?!?!” “Oh. That is a... reasonable worry.” “I mean seriously! All this time he could be plotting and planning and reading our minds and coming to kill us!” “Hey- who’s that?” A proud-looking HiveWing with red and yellow scales, interwoven with black ones, walks into the room, looks around at us, and flops onto the spider-web-ish hammock, like she had flown all day, which is very possible. She sighs and her eyes close before I can ask her name. I turn back to Ginger and say, “Do you want to visit the cave next to us?” “Okay.” she replies. Hopefully that will keep her mind off Darkstalker for a while. Ginger looks into the next cave and gasps. I peer in and see a RainWing, a SkyWing and a NightWing, but he's not fully black, with… white splotches all over him and covering one leg. I stare at Ginger, open-mouthed. The Darkstalker has risen again.
