It would mean a lot to me if you took the time to read through all of this, this is my final note on scratch and I would just like to say goodbye with this unfinished project :) ***Leaving note from itBit*** This project was my biggest ever project of scratch. By the time I made this project, I was so much better at coding than I use to be, and wanted to prove my ability by creating a complex, sophisticated and smooth game, much better than all my past projects. In the end however, I started to loose enthusiasm towards coding on Scratch. The amount of work that would have to go into this project would be unimaginable, and I had other interests I wanted to pursue and give my full attention to. Seeing as I am never going to finished it, I thought I'd share the project so far for you to enjoy, as it is pretty fun as it is, just this one level. Enjoy :D ***Instructions*** Controls: Arrow keys or WASD to move, down or S to drop down ladders Objective: There is only one level so far (The Castle). The aim is to get to the finish without dying, you must avoid the lava which not only is found around the level, but will start to rise up after a certain period of time. There are arrows around the level to help guide you. Press buttons to unlock platforms that will help you get upwards, towards the finish, escaping the slowly rising lava! If you want to see the lobby (this game will be a multiplayer) go to see inside, SPB, setup, set level to ( ) and change level to 1. ***What the game would have been like, and plea to skilful coders!*** I had so many cool level ideas, and even made some cool soundtracks to go with them, I just never had the time to do all of the artwork. The game would have been multiplayer, you would join in the lobby, where you wait until the current game is over, or if you have died in the current game. You can chat using the safe chat, which I spent so long creating an entire safe dictionary for, and complex checking system to make sure your message is safe, so people can talk more freely, yet appropriately. Messages would be displayed in text above your name and also in the chat section of the menu. When the current game is finished, everyone would return to the lobby, people would be able to hang around for about 20 seconds before the next game starts, it would pick a random map (there are 4 difficulties: easy, medium, hard, extreme) and they would all be sent there. They then try and get to the finish, players cannot collide with each other, but the buttons pressed are global, so you can help each other out by pressing buttons. Those who die get sent back to the lobby, and those who finish get an xp award (more if the level is harder). Hidden in the map are different mystery skins, which you can collect, and only if you survive, you unlock them, and can use them. Skins have rarities (common, uncommon, rare and legendary). Other ways of getting skins are that completing a level may get you one, and so may xp milestones. The more xp you have, the higher your level is, which is displayed by your player name so you can see who the more experienced players are. In the menu you can view all of your unlocked skins, and wear them. You can also chat in the chat section, where you can also mute the chat, so people can turn it off if they don't want it, and in the settings section you can edit all of the basic game settings. You can also save and load save codes in settings, so you can keep your progress. The save codes are well encrypted in a way affected by your username, so people can't forge them or use other people's and get lots of xp or skins. I believe that is it? ATTENTION TALENTED CODERS! If anyone feels up to the challenge of remixing this and finishing it, I would be so thrilled to see this finished ever. It's a massive ask, but I have given you the foundations, so if you want to take this project in and make it your own, I'm sure it would be a really successful game! Finally, thank you everyone who has made my time on Scratch so amazing and inspiring! I will be very inactive from now on, and won't be making projects, but will still check in every now and again to see how the community is going! Thank you and goodbye! :) Update Log: 27/04/20 De-pixelised text engine and added some common characters. Rewrote the engine's code so that it doesn't remake the clones every frame, but the clones are made at the start and then follow the player. This should reduce lag in future uses of the engine on bigger texts. 11/04/20 Added a finish! 8/04/20 Added mobile controls for those of you who need them! 3/04/20 Fixed some annoying glitches to do with the dragon and moving platforms in general. 29/03/20 Added dragon finally! 14/03/20 I've rewritten the moving platforms script! It is now cleaner and more easily laid out and a lot of bugs have been fixed.
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS @griffpatch for the basic scrolling concept. All coding by me. Just a shoutout to @EZK40 for being so devoted to following the progress of this project, it's the least I can do XD :)
