Hi guys! This is a draft I have been working on since August but forgot about! Oops XD This is kind of like a back to school project. I recently developed some new studying/organization tips that really help me out! So I figured I could help y'all out :) Also, feel free to share some more advice in the comments for everyone. I will be splitting up these tips in certain categories. Also, press the screen for the next slide (basically a less complex version of the info here in the instructions). ~School/office supplies I recommend~ Pens- Signo Uniball pens! They are smudge resistant and are honestly so smooth! You can also ink in your art with these guys :) Pencils- I always have some mechanical pencils and normal no. 2 pencils. I would also recommend getting a patterned pencil or one with your name on it for lending to people. Because never getting your pencils back is honestly the worst :/ Erasers- If you are in art class, kneedable erasers are great! But for class and other things I use the white erasers (I forget the brand name!). I find that the pink erasers leave marks on my paper. Highlighters- I always try and have 3-4 different colors. Highlighters are great for organization and marking up anything for class. Pencil cases- Depending on what you like, you can look at different brands and styles. If you like having a binder you can have a binder ring pencil case. I personally like having a pencil case that is unique to me. For example, if you like books you can get a case from Out Of Print. Hot Topic also has a lot of pop culture themed pencil cases. Other things to have in your backpack- Obviously any other school supplies you need (think notebooks, binders, etc..). I always have a hand sanitizer in my bag (gotta be clean!). I also keep a calculator in my bag. If you are going into a complex math or science class, I would recommend getting your graphing calculator used. ~Basic organization~ Elementary school- a folder is perfect for any assignment or permission slips you'll need to take home. Middle school- Use the binder method. If you buy a binder, you can put a folder for assignments (two sections- to do and completed), a binder pencil case and your planner. A planner will be very helpful! Plus, you'll be able to carry that skill to high school. I would recommend a backpack with 2+ pockets for middle school. You might have some text books or binders to carry. High school- If you like the binder method continue that! But some high schoolers will have more text books and binders to carry and one more will be hard to carry! You could also use the file folder method. They normally have 6-9 sections (perfect if your school has periods- you can use each section for a different class!). You should probably also use a planner as you might have a job or another activities to keep track of. ~More organization!~ *Develop a routine for the morning and night. School won't be very fun if you are dead tired in the morning! A routine can help you get to sleep or help you wake up in the morning. Humans do well with routine. You should consider setting a "bedtime" and "wake up time". *Create to- do lists and don't multitask! There are so many apps and websites to create reminders and to-do lists if you have technology. They are so helpful! Also, avoid multitasking. Your work won't be as meaningful and you will feel rushed. If you do your hardest work first you will feel more accomplished. *Take five days to plan every night. It will help you feel more organized if you think of what you will be doing tomorrow. You can also use sticky-notes to jot down a basic plan for the following day. *Break down tasks and don't take on too much! By breaking down tasks you can see your progress more easily. It can feel overwhelming trying to complete three giant tasks instead of six smaller ones. Also, don't overbook yourself with a bunch of activities and after-school events. You will end up being stressed. *Have a certain place to do all your studying and homework. You will be able to get more done if you have everything you need on hand. ~Studying~ *Use materials the teacher provided! Use any homework or materials provided to help you study! You can use these to make practice questions. *Take a break! It is recommended that you study for an hour then take a twenty minute break. This way you can keep focused. *Have a healthy snack! Foods like almonds are great for your brain and help you keep focused. *Focus on topics you struggle on! By using tools like Quizlet or Kahoot you can see what questions you need practice on. Then you can use this to make more practice questions. *Have a quiet spot set up. Distractions will get you off topic. If you like music, choose a playlist that has music you can focus with. Think Mozart! I hope these help! <3 Have a great 2019/20 school year and stay focused! If you want more tips feel free to ask in the comments section.
