I was really inspired by the contrast of these two aesthetics, so here goes: They knew eachothers' names, but one would never think it if you watched them. She called him her "curious wizard," and he called her his queen. Neither ever spoke much. Most of the time they spent together was in a series of dimly lit rooms, next to eachother leaning against the wall, thinking their own thoughts. It makes sense that a two such as these would value time spent together more than words spoken. It began one day, not long after he first came into his strange brand of magic. He was still a child then, those months ago, before he burst through the rift and into her life. The time couldn't have been more opportune -- the scene more picturesque. A girl betrothed to a stranger in a time long, long ago... and a boy, her wizard, to whisk her away to the freedom of his own time. All was set for a happily ever after in a twenty-first century countryside before they reached their 18th birthdays. There was even a babbling brook outside. But... Time is not meant to be played with for childish fairy tales. As they went about an idyllic life with a red carpet of promises laid out before them, he began to notice little things. Her skin getting paler and clammy. Her hair turned white overnight. Her eyes would glaze over like she was looking far, far away... Time was reclaiming its bride. As the boy, her curious wizard, could do nothing but watch helplessly as his life, his everything, his queen slipped away into the sickness. At first he was frantic -- looking for every way out. He presented her with every charm he could find across the rifts. But all they did was buy simple, meaningless hours in a world of eons. "Why did it have to happen so soon," he whispered, gently lifting her frail body and staring into her eyes. His hair crackled with lightning -- a side effect that excited him at first, but now... it was the most meaningless thing in the world. "There was so much left for us.. for you to do..," he breathed. So in shock, no tears came to release him of his pain. As he held her, all draped in the stupid, worthless charms, the world was broken and he was shattered. "And it's all my fault. You deserved so much better. You deserved to be treated like a queen."
