Press that flag two times. I want this guy. I need this guy. So here is my story.... The Abita was one of the most lavish steamboats to ever sail the Mississippi. She had two carpeted levels, an elegant sitting area, a large parlor with a bar, and even a bathroom. Throughout the marvelous ship there was a large assortment of wonderful oddities. One such oddity was a stuffed twelve foot alligator that donned a pair of spectacles, fondly deemed "Wallace" by the crew. The Abita sailed back and forth between the Mississippi river without incident, that is until the fateful incident on the night of September 6th, 1836. That night started off as normal. The ship set sail on time, carrying sixty-six passengers and fifteen crew members. At approximately 11:55 pm tragedy struck. The Abita's boiler exploded. The passengers that weren't killed by the explosion all drowned. Legend has it that every night the Abita is doomed to repeat its tragic journey. There have even been some reports of people seeing Wallace smoking a cigar on the deck while playing a match of poker with other passengers. If these reports are true, we may never know.
