sweet little backstory thingy: This is Mask, a young kitten who was separated from his parents when a fox infiltrated their home. He was taken in by an elderly female, Brook, and she fed and sheltered him. Two days after the attack, Mask was worried about his parents, and Brook took him back to the forest where their home was. His parents were still there, trapped in their den (a hollow inside a large tree), the fox circling them. Mask cried out to them, but the fox heard him as well. Brook distracted the fox, fighting it while Mask and his parents escaped. Mask and his parents spent the rest of their lives next to a stream as a way of giving thanks to Brook, who had saved their lives.
