Name: Lotus Gender: Female Species: Canus Lupus Personality: Shy, creative, longing Story (prepare for my author side to show) : A brown she-wolf stalked through the shadows of a dense pine forest. The moon was a waning crescent and barely showed through the branches of the pines. She walked swiftly and quietly as not to disturb any of the forest floor and give away her position. She was alone. No pack to help her hunt and to keep her safe. She was an exile. As a pup this wolf was weak. She was seen as a weak link, she never was any help. Her old pack was civil enough to allow her to stay until she could at least hunt small game, that would keep her alive. Luckily, she had been able to sustain herself for a year now. She was about two years old. Now, she slid though her former pack's territory to find her special spot. She finally spotted her ledge. It was a bit out of her old territory, she was safe. She has scented her pack on the far edge of their home turf. She was well more then a mile away. She should be OK. The wolf sat down and curled her tail around her back paws. She looked up at the moon. The crescent was like a fang cutting though the night sky. She lowered her head to the rocky ledge she was sitting on. Below her was a cliff, a shear drop. It made her feel free to sit so close to the edge... almost as if she could fly. She lifted her head to the sky, closed her eyes, and howled. The sound was a mourning sound of love lost, lonesomeness, and regret. Even to a human ear the message was clear, the wish to be free was eminent. Her song was only for the moon, no one was to hear it besides her and the woods. But it was not to be. Suddenly, she felt a sharp prick in her back and after yelping and looking around to see what had hit her she started to feel very woozy. Everything around her started to spin and she started to collapse. Before she blacked out as she was laying on the stone on which she was singing just a minute before, she saw a man walk out of the bushes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the she-wolf, it felt like only a moment had passed before she woke. In reality though, she had been out for almost a full 24 hours. She opened her eyes and a full on head ache hit her. She shook her head as she still lay on the floor of what felt like wood. She got up the nerve to open her eyes and found herself face to face with a male wolf. She jumped to her feet and snarled. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm not threatening you. Gee, can a guy be curious?" the male wolf said in a voice that sounded a bit like he had stayed an adolescent his entire life. "Where am I." the she-wolf said in a shaky yet smooth voice. "Oh," the male said as if dismissing her, "We are just in the travel cage. We will be out in a bit. We have been traveling for a day. I'm Eoin (pronounced owen)." The she-wolf sighed trying to calm down, "I'm Lotus." "Lotus, sweet name. Well," he paused, "Welcome to Jeremiah's House of Animal Show business!" Lotus cocked her head to the side, "What?" she asked skeptically. "You mean you don't know?! I guess you were living in the middle of no where but still I would have thought..." "Um," "Oh! Sorry, got lost in thought there." Eoin said blushing a little, "You see. We live with this nice man named Jeremiah. He runs this show see. We all are performers. I myself am Eoin the comedian. There are a few more wolves you should meet but they are in other cages." He gestured to some other barred things all set beside one another. There were plaques several of them reading wolves and big cats. There were some crates labeled 'Wolf Food', 'Hoops', and 'Props for Eoin'. "I have my own prop box." Eoin boasted, "I am just that important. A laugh came from another cage and a large gray male wolf stood up, "Oh yeah, Eoin the important? Please. Our singing act is high above yours." two more female wolves stood up, both gray. Lotus got a little uneasy, "Um, excuse me, we don't need to fight. I'm sure both of your acts are wonderful." she smiled sheepishly. One of the gray females in the other cage snorted and stuck her nose up in the air, "You don't even know how the hierarchy works yet, your opinion means nothing until you have found your place." she said in a snobbish voice. Lotus turned her back and went to the other side of the cage she and Eoin were in and sulked. This reminded her to much of her pack. After a while, everyone but Lotus fell asleep. Lotus just wandered around the cage and looked out at everything in the trailer. After a while the vehicle stopped and a man opened the back of the truck. "Hello my friends!" the man shouted and all of the animals got up and started to greet him with barks. meows (of sorts), and many other animal greetings, "It's time to set up for our next show."
