I always thought that being a lion would be awesome. Lions are big cats, and are carnivores, which means they hunt their prey. A lions habitat will be in grasslands and savannas, where many other animals live. I would hunt prey, and also hunt other predators, like leopards, cheetahs and hyenas, so I have plenty of food source. Lions are the only social cats, and live in groups called prides, which are usually composed of five females, two males and their young. Lions live in prides like a family, who protects each other and raises the cubs. Cubs get their food from kills, but when they reach one year of age, they begin to hunt for themselves. Males ensure the security of the cubs, and females hunt. Females are the usually the more effective hunters than the male, because they are lighter and swifter than most males, because males are heavier because of their manes. Tigers on the other hand are solitary animals. Though, being a lion also means having numerous enemies, like elephants, apes, buffalos, hippos, and other animals that they hunt. But, lions don’t really seek out humans, but some males do actively seek humans out. Lions’ population is decreasing too, and the cause of it is because its habitat is being destroyed, to make more homes and buildings for people to live in. Males have the average lifespan of twelve years, while females have the average of fifteen years. Lions have the ability to roar, but don’t have the ability to purr like house cats do. They roar whenever in defeat. If I was a lion, I would be in a pride. And hunt for food and look for other resources to feed the cubs and other lions. But being a lion seems a bit hard, and I’m contented to being myself for now.
